About Snowshoe Cats
The Snowshoe is a relatively
new breed to the Cat Fancy.
They derive from a cross
between the Siamese and the
American Shorthair. Most
breeders are striving to breed
only Snowshoe to Snowshoe
however the registries are still
allowing the cross with the
Siamese or the American
Shorthair.
Snowshoe Cats are recognized
and registered with The
International Cat Association
(TICA), the American Cat
Fanciers' Association (ACFA) and
the American Cat Association
(ACA). Reputable breeders keep
close records with these
associations in order to develop
and promote the breed. A TICA
registered Snowshoe can be
shown at major cat shows across
the globe.
Snowshoe Cats are a companion
breed. They are fun loving and
outgoing. Snowshoe owners will
agree that they are not only a pet,
but part of the family. They are
playful and extremely intrigued by
everything in their environment
including water! They are
wonderful with children and
house guests.
